What is an Aliveness Small Group?
Aliveness Small Groups are a blend between Group Coaching and Group Spiritual Direction. These groups are not "topical." That is, the goal is not to learn more "about" something. Rather, these groups are about opening to deeper reality. There are currently three different opportunities to engage, with new groups forming as interest and time allows. Learn more below. Why invest in an Aliveness Small Group? To paraphrase Joan Holmes, president of the Hunger Project, we must be known for what we allocate, not what we accumulate. When Amanda and I got serious about where the money in our house goes, it became clear to us that much of our spending was on things that offer little nourishment for our hearts and minds. Redirecting our time and spending reoriented our hearts and imaginations. Aliveness Small Groups are about reorienting our attention, with others, to the life that really is life.
I have been leading small groups toward deeper awareness and understanding of the Way of Jesus for more than two decades. In my own research, writing, and daily practice I have been honing a craft of life, so to nurture others in the faith. Working with me, small group participants will learn and grow as spiritual beings, cultivate flourishing practices together, and become more equipped for inhabiting the world with the lightness of grace.
